Review: Mending Noel by Charlie Cochet (North Pole City Tales Book 1)

All is not sparkly snowflakes and sweet candy canes in North Pole City. Office workers Tim and Noel do nothing all day but antagonize each other—petty fighting that might be based on hatred… or a heated mutual attraction. It’s up to Jack Frost and his elf-friend Rudy to broach the hostilities and introduce some Christmas kisses, but is the Frost Prince up to the challenge of launching a new romance when someone’s trying to break his holiday spirit?

I wound up winning this book from a Facebook event a few weeks (months? memory is not my strong suit) ago. It’s the first book by Charlie I’ve read despite owning the entire THIRDS series, waiting for me to read. I truly enjoyed this story. It’s a holiday story so I’m reading it way out of season, but that didn’t matter. I got some holiday cheer and had a brief twinge of remorse that the holidays aren’t right around the corner. There were some deep emotions in such a few pages. I felt bad for both Tim and Noel with how broken they were. Kind of wanted to smack Noel for taking his problems out on Tim, but I understood why. I’m very interested to read more about Rudy and Jack. The world created was fun and engaging. I enjoyed Charlie’s take on the holidays, Santa, and Santa’s village. I will be reading the rest of this series for sure. Though maybe closer to the holidays so I can get excited about that at the appropriate time.

About Charlie:
Charlie was born in Havana, Cuba at the Hospital of the Sacred Heart to a couple of hipster parents. In 1980–feeling it was time to get out of Dodge, her parents scooped her up and embarked on a perilous journey, boarding a fishing vessel called the Admiral Backman which–along with 231 other folks, carried Charlie and her parents through stormy seas to the land of opportunity. Charlie spent the next twelve years in New Jersey where she fell in love with bagels, New York pizza, and learned to pronounce coffee as ‘cawfee’. Just before her 14th birthday, her folks decided to pack up the family and head for warmer weather.

After graduating high school in South Florida, Charlie attended The Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Media Arts & Animation. Not long after, at the age of 23, life whisked her away to England where she lived for 11 years, thriving in the creative culture of London while drinking tea and learning to say ‘chips’ when she meant fries.

Charlie is an avid supporter of LGBT rights and looks forward to the day when gender is not an issue. M/M author by day, artist by night, Charlie Cochet is quick to succumb to the whispers of her wayward muse, and no star is out of reach when following her passion. From hardboiled detectives and society gentleman, to angels and elves, there’s bound to be plenty of mischief for her heroes to find themselves in, and plenty of romance, too!

Currently residing in South Florida, Charlie dreams of the day where the temperature might be something other than hot, hot, and boy, it’s hot! When Charlie isn’t writing, she can usually be found reading, drawing, or watching movies. She runs on coffee, thrives on music, and loves to hear from readers.
