Review:
Y’all It’s coming to a head and all the clues are coming out. You can see the characters putting together the pieces and trying to work everything out. There’s still some key puzzle pieces missing, but like Bray says “We’ve come a long way in a short amount of time. We should be happy with that. Do we know everything? No, and it’s unlikely we will for a while.” Hunter and Tir’s story was wonderful. I adored getting to see Hunter and Tir finally work things out but holy moly, the journey they had to go on to get there! I truly enjoyed getting to see more of the world and the people in it. With each new book in the series you can see the world expand. It’s a place that feels real and somewhere I’d love to visit. Ms. Walker writes wonderful science fiction/fantasy stories. She pulls you in and doesn’t let you go until the story is over and you’ve got this huge book hangover. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Hunter is so strong. He isn’t just physically strong, though he is that. He is emotionally strong where he knows he needs to talk about things and not bottle them up and let them get him down. He knows family is important and will protect his family at all costs. He is a solid friend and someone you want on your side. Hunter loves deeply and I adored seeing him with Tir. He endured so much throughout the story. That aspect was very well done. It got the point across and the emotions were clear, but it wasn’t gruesome or over the top. He still has a long road to recover completely. But he is so happy by the end of the book.
Tir was scared of a relationship. I sort of got why he wasn’t ready to be with Hunter. But I would have liked that to be explained a bit more. Also, to have some of the issues with his ex explored and expanded. I was afraid Tir was going to collapse in the story because he was taking care of everything and everyone. He was amazing under pressure when searching for the lost person. Watching Tir with the kids was sweet. He had a way with them to let them know they mattered. You could tell he was glad he allowed himself to express his feelings for Hunter by the end of the book. He was so in love.
Hunter and Tir are so good together once they got there. Once they were in the same place they shared their feelings quickly. The journey to get to that point was riveting. I was on the edge of my seat hoping things got better or the missing person found. I felt bad for all the kids in the story missing someone important. We get most of the pieces of the overall puzzle of what’s happening in Landran in this book. It’s amazing to see how widespread and intricate the plans are. I’m eager for this series to continue so we can see how everything plays out. You can feel the tension rising because things are coming to a head. While the story ends with a solid happily ever after for Tir and Hunter, there’s still more to go on the overall series story arc. I love how happy Hunter and Tir are together. They are going to be together as long as they live and will easily weather anything thrown in their path.
