Molly Reviews: The Beginning by Victoria Sue (Sirius’ Wolves Book 6)

Blurb:
The Winter Circle is on the rise and the most desperate hour for humankind is at hand. Working from the shadows, the dark god Anubis, jealous enemy of the goddess Sirius, is setting years’ long plans in motion, a master scheme that will strike home in the heart of Jefferson Pack.

Nate is a survivor. He survived rejection by his father and his pack when he was a child. He survived being alone, kidnapped, starved, and tortured. But the more he recovers, the more he realizes he seems to be developing abilities that surpass those of the Supreme Alphas.

More than that, though, he can’t move past the scar of knowing he was responsible for killing Darric, even though the Alpha was resurrected by Orion and Nate was forgiven; he can’t let go of his fear that there is something terrible hiding in the many holes in the memories of his childhood.

The Winter Circle strikes, and there is a traitor within the pack, one who means to see the end of all hybrids, including Nate and Kellan’s pups. But as all hell breaks loose Nate’s greatest fear is not the danger that surrounds him, it’s the danger that hides within him. When Nate’s finds out his true purpose, and terrible secrets are revealed, will love triumph over evil? Or will the secret that Nate carries just be the death of them all?

Review:
This was such a good book. I adored getting to see Kellan, Ricoh, Nate, and Marcus again. They had more story that needed telling and this wraps it up nicely. We get to see the answers to many of the questions from the overall story arc and the relationship between Nate, Marcus, Kellan, and Ricoh grow stronger. Ms. Sue writes wonderful stories with intricate plots and I adore all of her books.

Ricoh was content. Especially when Marcus came home and could give him what he needed. Ricoh was strong for Kellan when Kellan needed it the most. The way he showed no fear was just what Kellan needed at that moment. It was so wonderful seeing Ricoh find his place in the mating and pack. Especially to see him put some of his past to rest.

Kellan struggled with reassurance of his place in the pack. He broke my heart when he believed everyone didn’t trust him and didn’t have a place in the pack. It was a struggle to see what happened to him afterwards. He was strong in the face of everything thrown his way. I loved how centered he was by the end of the story. He was so happy you could feel it.

Nate had the most trouble in this story. We learn more about his childhood and where he comes from. His emotions are so clear as you’re reading. My heart broke for him when he realized how painful his past truly was. I would love to know more about what the ramifications of his past mean for him, his mates, and the Supreme Alphas. By the end of the story, you can tell Nate is happy and safe in his place in the world.

Marcus still struggled with his his humanity. His fears kept him from fully accepting his status as Alpha and with his mates. But when he was finally able to be safe in that knowledge you could tell he was settled in his own skin again. His love for his mates was never in question for him. But he also couldn’t fully believe he was worthy in return until the end of the story.

I was shocked at the turn of events with Marcus and Hunter. Plus Nate’s full past was deep and not what I expected. However it answered some questions and made so much sense for Nate. I love how Ms. Sue weaves the story and grabs hold of your attention right from the first page. The story is a quick read but also fast paced. You are pulled in from the start and I couldn’t put the book down until I was done.

Seeing Ricoh, Kellan, Nate and Marcus solidify their bond and get to finally be happy without anything over their heads was wonderful. The epilogue was beautiful. I adored seeing all four of them happy and content and so complete. I can’t wait to read the next book to see what happens next.

About Victoria:
Wrote her first book on a dare from her hubby two years ago and he says he has regretted it every day since. Loves writing about gorgeous boys loving each other the best – especially with either a paranormal or a historical twist. Had a try at writing contemporary but failed spectacularly when it grew four legs and a tail. Loves her wolves! Is an English northern lass but is currently serving twenty to life in Florida – unfortunately, she spends more time chained to her computer than on a beach. Loves to hear from her readers and can be found most days lurking on Facebook.
