Molly Reviews and Giveaway: Death and Destruction (Death and Destruction Book 1)

Blurb:
Forced to go into witness protection, ATF agent, Thayne Wolfe, is less than thrilled. The State’s Attorney needs him to testify against one of the most ruthless and notorious arms dealers in the world. Expecting boredom and lots of daytime television, he instead ends up with a ridiculous new job, a stupid new name, and the world’s most annoying shadow. Jarrett Evans, is nevertheless tasked with keeping Wolfe alive long enough to put Mills Lang and his crew away for the rest of their miserable lives.

Jarrett Evans, former Marine, has always been a free spirit, doing the dirty work for Uncle Sam whenever and wherever he’s needed. One of the best snipers in the world, Evans is at peace with the man he’s become. That doesn’t mean he’s ever liked the cold-blooded killer who stares back at him from the mirror every day. The moment he meets pretty boy, Thayne Wolfe however, things start a slow change and redemption begins to sound possible.

Mills Lang, the world’s most ruthless arms dealer, is little more than a serial killer in his own right. Rotting away in prison with nothing but time on his hands, Lang is determined to destroy the man he allowed into his inner circle. Thayne Wolfe will die in the most painful way… along with anyone he loves.

(Stay tuned for Thayne and Jarrett’s continuing adventures. “Flash and Bang” Book Two… coming soon!)

Review:
I was beyond excited for this story when it came out because I have wanted Jarrett’s story since The Brat. And oh man does this book deliver. I couldn’t stop reading once I got started. I really enjoyed the suspense of wondering if Thayne was going to make it or if Mills Lang was going to get his way. It had me on the edge of my sear for most of the book. I liked the slow burn between  Thayne and Jarrett. The way they circled each other and denied their feelings for each other for so long and the explosive nature of their relationship once they threw their reservations aside was so sexy. I really liked the scene where Thayne practices cutting and shaving Jarrett. It’s so sensual without trying to be. The ending though. Holy moly I want to know more. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
I loved Jarrett. I was excited that not only is he getting his own book, but his own series! He’s a deep character that I keep wanting more from. Watching him go from lone wolf to expressing his feelings openly and admitting he is better with friends around him was wonderful. I’m eager to see how he grows in the next book considering his career change.
Thayne was fascinating. He was equal parts tough ATF agent that will take you out without any hesitation, and sweet guy that cares for those around him. That dichotomy made for some fascinating scenes. I really enjoyed seeing him fall for Jarrett. It kind of snuck up on Thayne and was so much fun to see how he reacts when he realizes how he feels.
I struggled with multiple sex scenes in a row once these two started the physical side of their relationship. The sex wasn’t bad, poorly written, or awkward in any way. But I wound up skimming two of the sex scenes because it overran the last quarter of the book when then the action picked up and I wanted to see what happened next. It’s not bad having copious amounts of sex, but it was more than I personally prefer that close together.
I am so interested if Virgil’s statement at the end of the story, and if the events right at the end of the book are going to be part of the next book in the series. I absolutely cannot wait to find out and will definitely be reading it as soon as it’s available.
