Blurb:
Mixologist Nick Valentine never thought love was in the cards, but after a scorching Valentine’s Day kiss from bouncer Davis “FatBoy” Newman, he’s beginning to think it’s possible. After four weeks of dry spell, Nick’s losing patience—it’s time FatBoy stop acting the gentleman and just throw him over the bar or Nick may just change his mind.
All FatBoy wants is a shot at winning Nick’s heart. As long as meddling bosses, an Irish hurling team and a bar riot don’t ruin his chances forever, he might just get lucky and take the man of his dreams, home.

Guest Post:
LE was kind enough to sit down with Davis, a.k.a FatBoy, and talk about fears. Now Davis has some pretty big things to be afraid of in his past. But his fears now? Gotta say they’re just as deep in a different kind of way. Read and enjoy!
LE: I’m sitting here with Davis “FatBoy” Newman to ask him a few questions. This question is from Molly Lolly. Ready Davis?
FB: “Hi… um… is this really necessary?”
LE: “Apparently so now that you and Nick are in the limelight this week.”
FB: [audible sigh] “Fine. Shoot.”
LE: “Can you tell us what your biggest fears are?”
FB: “Seriously?”
LE: “Yup. That’s what it says on the card… or I could ask you whether you prefer to top or botto—”
FB: “Fine. Fears it is. [Pause while Davis stands and begins pacing back and forth in the studio.]
FB: “You know, I’ve been in the army, fought in Afghanistan. That kind of fear—unknown danger around every corner—sits low in the belly and doesn’t fade away until you’re out of theater… even then it lingers until you get used to not checking your six every 30 seconds…. but it’s never made me feel helpless. Not like the feeling that crashed into me the first time I saw Nick with another man…”
LE: “And that made you afraid?”
FB: “Like I was being chased by a pack of hungry tigers wearing nothing but A-1 sauce.” [Laughs] I realized that somewhere along the line I’d fallen for him. Hard. I started waking up in a sweat, I’d get nightmares—in the course of a week I’d dream about Nick with a dozen different men, some I recognized, some just figments of my imagination I guess, but in each dream, even though I was standing right next to him talking, he’d never notice me. I felt like I was going crazy.”
LE: “And now? You two seem to be getting closer.”
FB: “Now my greatest fear is that someday the love of my life will get tired of waiting and walk out the door before I get a chance to tell him what he means to me.”
LE: “Better get on that…”
FB: “No kidding.”
Excerpt:
Reaching across the empty bed next to me, I rode out the last waves of my dream alone. I could still feel his phantom kiss on my lips and the sensation of a hand stroking along my thigh.
The rest of it was just a blur of emotions and sticky residue on my sheets—though I could guess at it without much effort. FatBoy Newman had been a specter haunting me at work so it was no great leap to assume he’d shouldered his way into my dreams as well.
In fact, he was at the root of my problem: I’d been having a hell of a dry spell.
Four weeks of near misses had done nothing but stoke my bad mood and turn my balls a lovely shade of indigo that matched my jeans…
Four weeks of dashed hopes…
Four weeks since the most romantic kiss of my life…
Four weeks of nothing.
Fuck the South and its mythology of the Southern Gentleman—if FatBoy Newman didn’t stop treating me like a delicate flower and throw me up against a wall soon, I was going to explode.
It was six days until St. Patrick’s Day, and FatBoy had until then to make his move, or I was moving on.
