Review:
I love when a book in a series can be read by itself. I kind of wanted to smack Ace at first when he was a jerk, but I was so glad it didn’t take him long to screw his head on right. Of course then I wanted to smack Kyle for holding a grudge like he was, but again his reasons were justified. I loved that Devin and Ace worked so well together when they finally got things worked out. My favorite scene is after Devin visits the pack the very first time and sees Ace after meeting the Alpha. So hot, but also very touching. The emotion added with the sexy D/s, pain action makes it that much more appealing. I really liked that everything was all worked out at the end. A nice complete story with a full happy ending.

Domineering Mates
“So what’s it like? What is the strangest thing you have ever been asked to do?”
I can’t help it, I am intrigued and I want to know why Devin, gorgeous vampire prince with hidden strengths, would hire himself out as a house sub in a human BDSM club. Surely the man would have been better suited to pairing himself up with some other paranormal? Bah. I don’t really care, because I am dying for a spot of gossip about what really goes on behind the closed doors at Whips.
Unfortunately, I don’t think I am going to get my wish, because the hulking mass of wolf shifter that hasn’t left Devin’s side since they came in, clearly doesn’t like the way the conversation was going. No wolf shifter likes to think of their mate being with someone else and Ace was no exception.
“I don’t think there is much I can tell you,” Devin said and I can see his eyes flash at his mate, and the grin on his face suggests he is going to say something that Ace won’t like, but he’s going to do it anyway.
“There was this one time…”
Yep, that was a definite growl and I cast a wary look at Ace. Ace’s arm is wrapped around Devin’s shoulder in a death grasp but Devin doesn’t seem to mind as he continues.
“This Dom wanted to put needles in my…” Devin trails off and indicates his crotch with a smile. Ace growls again and I have to admit that even though the shifter’s sheer size frightens the crap out of me, I could see where that growl could be considered erotic. It certainly ran right the way down my spine.
“Of course, he demanded that I be erect at the time and of course, well I needed a bit of help with that. So he…”
“Enough,” Ace snarled. “I warned you that talking about other men would mean this interview was over, now shut up boy, or you’ll be punished.” The moment those words were out of his mouth, Ace was all over Devin like a frigging octopus. Damn those two men looked hot together, not that I could see a lot with Ace’s long hair covering whatever his mouth was doing. But if the moans and whimpers Devin was making were any indication, the vampire liked his mate’s show of dominance.
After a long five minutes I figured I had better remind them I was in the room, so I gave a little cough. Lame, but what else was I meant to do? This was meant to be an interview and these two would be having sex on my couch if I didn’t say something.
Ace’s eyes were on me in an instant, and yep, I admit, I was a little scared. Ace’s eyes glowed and the snarl on his face froze me to the spot. Then Devin’s head popped over Ace’s shoulder.
“Interview’s over,” he said with a smirk. “Eer…can we borrow your office for five minutes?”
“Make it ten,” Ace said as I left the room. Standing on the other side of the door I could hear snarling and a lot of groaning. Maybe it was time for a cup of tea and a smoke. Those two could be a while.
Excerpt:
“This is not a scene. Not this time. This is us, together. Mate. Amatus. No rules. No restrictions. Just two men who will be together for a lifetime.”
Devin’s eyes flashed a brilliant red, the sight almost shocking Ace with its intensity and then it was gone just as quickly.
“I want that,” Devin said softly, as his hands came up from where they had been resting on the bed and gripped Ace’s biceps. “I want that a lot,” his voice finishing on a growl that set Ace’s wolf on edge as though not sure whether to challenge or submit. But that growl left Ace in no doubt that the man underneath him was as much a predator as he was.
